(Violet D')ART Takes Times Square
Yes, it does! I just got informed my photos will be displayed on one of the twelve iconic, massive 21ft by 12ft billboard signs on Times Square, as part of the Artist Wanted Art Takes Times Square exhibition this summer. And also at the Artists Wanted party featuring Questlove of The Roots / Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. What?!
I could upload only nine photos, and had the hardest time deciding which to put. I chose some of my fine art works and also two of my concert photographs.
I decided to upload some self-portraits, nature and surreal. I have a week to complete my portfolio, which means that I could make a change or two by then, but that would probably be it.
And from the concert shots I chose two of my AVENGED SEVENFOLD photos, so my photos of M. Shadows, Zacky and Syn will be displayed on the signs too. I just love these shots, what can I say..
Eek. All of a sudden I am so excited. Although I wouldn't be able to go see it myself. BUT- the competition is still going on and I am competing for the Grand Prize and the People's Choice Award. And for the latter I am going to need your votes. Help me win it by 'collecting me', which means clicking on the COLLECT ME button (they will ask you to sign with facebook, don't worry it's all cool). violetdamyan.artistswanted.org/atts2012

Blog changes and some updates
I have so many things in my mind I want to blog about, that I don't know where to start. So I've been putting it off for quite some time. Now I just sat down, hit the New Post button and started typing.
I guess I should start by saying that I moved my blog here. My old blog URL (blog.violetdart.com) is still live and working it is just redirecting to blogger now. After Google retired Google Friend Connect it became kind of quiet there, I really liked GFC, so I just moved the blog to my old blogger account. Sadly something was wrong with the blog import and the .xml file so I had to move all the posts one by one. Blogger thought I was a robot at some point and started giving me captchas hah. But anyway it was faster than I thought. I am still using my Wordpress photo locations so I can't move to my old domain, but I will work on that later.
I have some new photos in my Etsy and Society6 shops. Head there to check them out. I am still working on my Fine Art America shop, albeit slower. I was planning on opening my own store, but I decided to put that off for a little while. Multitasking is the way I always work, but the line should be drawn somewhere, or I will never finish anything, and I don't need the stress. I think everyone that is running a business all by themselves know what I am talking about.
I was in London for three weeks last month and I have pics to share. I saw a movie set, visited some cool paces, went to a concert, entered an amazing contest, so come back anytime.

Etsy shop opened
Since I came to the UK my Etsy shop has been on 'On Vacation' mode,
although I did not want to close it, but I had to. I wanted to find a
decent photo lab that prints quality prints, one I can work with while I
am here, and I tried four places, and they all sucked. But today came
the last batch of samples from this last place and I Loved them.
Gorgeous satin-matt finish prints. So I open up my shop again and I am
ready to dive into work again.
I took a LOT of shots last week, as we went to a lot of places during those few days during (English) Easter break. (I hope they are good though I was pretty much doped on painkillers as I was going through some ridiculous amounts of pain..)
Even took some shots from another century hah.
It so happened that we found ourselves on the set of Les Misérables film that is being shot as we speak in Greenwich. The university yard is Paris right now with the Elephant De Bastille and horse carriages all around, flags and everything. I will write a different post about that. A pretty awesome production with some great actors and director.

Little Bits of Me at The Oscars
I made some new business card designs a while ago, the ones that I
sent for the 2012 Academy Awards, and I just received my pack a few
weeks ago.
As many of you know I am a member of an awesome celebrity gifting group- The Artisan Group, and although I couldn't send gifts or a display piece as I joined late, small part of me and my art is still going to be at the 84th Annual Academy Awards . There will be a business card of mine in each of the 100 swag bags that will be gifted to the celebrities (and a few to some press members and charities) at the Oscars GBK Gift Lounge on February 24-25 at The W Hotel in Hollywood, California. So exciting! Can't wait to see which of the artists will go home with the amazing TAG members' gifts.. and a Violet D'Art card!

White Lies in London
On Dec. 17 2011, three days after the Def Leppard/ Mötley Crüe concert
I traveled all the way to the Wembley Arena in London, again, to see
White Lies. I wanted to hear those guys live for such a long time, it
was so cool when a month and a half before it, all of a sudden I find
out they were going to have a concert in the very small frame of time I
was going be in London! Such a cool.. coincidence? nah. This I
attracted.
And although in the time between the two gigs I caught a pretty bad ass cold, and went slightly feverish and on a pumped with paracetamol, I had a great time! Also the craziest crowd I've ever been a part of! Changed placed 4,5 times..
But it was magical!
